When prayer feels difficult
On praying badly, praying briefly, and praying anyway.
There are seasons when prayer flows and seasons when it feels like talking to a ceiling. The second kind is not a sign that something has gone wrong with your faith. It is a normal part of a long relationship.
When words will not come, shorten them. A sentence is a prayer. A name is a prayer. The Psalms are full of people who could manage nothing more articulate than help.
What matters in a dry season is not eloquence. It is the returning. Keep coming back and the warmth returns, usually without you noticing the moment it did.
