Pennings of Gracelyn

The slow work of being formed

Growth rarely arrives as a breakthrough. Usually it arrives as a habit.

We would all prefer transformation to be an event. One conference, one decision, one morning where everything changes. Occasionally that happens. Mostly it does not.

Formation is slower and far less interesting to watch. It looks like the same prayer repeated, the same temptation refused, the same small kindness offered on a day you did not feel like it.

The encouraging part is that slow work is available to everyone. You do not need a dramatic story. You need a direction and enough patience to keep facing it.
